Be Ready for What ever Happens

This week's entry was to have been on water, but as I though more about fire, I wanted to use this to bring up some points about URBAN survival.
Most of us live in a city or town. Ever thought about what you would do if modern “fire” is gone? Electricity, that is. Our power lines are pretty vulnerable, and every winter large areas of the country are without electricity for days or weeks. This means a lot more than losing TV. It means our way of cooking, heating, lighting and communications will be impaired.
The good news is you still have a shelter, but what can you do to make it more livable? A quick Google search shows you a number of emergency back up solar recharging battery systems with 2000 to 5000 watts. Wow! That should do it, right?
No. And they cost a lot. Most people cannot afford that, so we did some work and research to develop the least expensive, but effective solar power system we could using off the shelf parts that could be home built by anyone.
